I did it!!

Last Friday I decided this would be the week that I would make it to losing 30 pounds....well, this morning....I DID IT!!!! I made it to 30 pounds. Barely, but I did it. I am SO excited. Unfortunately I have another 30 to go....but I can worry about that later!!!!

Better late than never...

We were out of town for Johnny's first birthday, and being the GREAT mom that I am we never got around to having a party for him. So last friday (only 2 months late) I decided we needed to have a small family birthday for him. I went to the store with Kylie to buy her friend a birthday present and picked one up for Johnny. Then that night I made a quick cake and we started a party. Okay, it wasn't much of a party. Johnny opened his preset, made a mess of his cake, and then the kids went to bed. But we have pictures, and that is the important part...

Giganormic Snakes

Yesterday I was in my house cleaning the kitchen up, when Eli came running inside freaking out and yelling at me..."MOM, MOM!!!! There is a giganormic snake outside, and it is going to KILL me!!! It will bite me and eat me!!!!! It is SOOOOO mean!!!!"

Knowing that there was no snake, but wondering what on earth he was talking about, I followed him out to the swing set. And sure enough, right under the swing, there was a giganormic 1 1/2 inch caterpillar wiggling on the grass.

I explained to him that it was not a snake, but a caterpillar that would one day turn into a butterfly. He was not convinced that this "thing" was really safe. And started telling me how much he hates caterpillars.

So I went back inside, and a few seconds later Eli came screaming in again..."MOM, MOM!!!! That caterpillar will never turn into a butterfly. I mad at it. It will bite me and eat me. I mad at it. I hate it. It is not nice. It mad at me, b/c it thinks I a giant."

Thank you Eli. You really brightened up my day.

The Gym

For some reason, I thought it might be fun to join a gym. David and I are trying to go 3-4 nights a week. We get the kids in bed, and then the Wilson's bring Tnaya over to sit at our house for an hour, so the 4 of us can go together.

I have already lost 7 pounds! And we just started last week. We will have to wait and see how long we can keep this up before we wear out our sitter!

Thank you Tnaya for all your help with my kids so I can go work out!!!!!

Wicked Weekend

AWESOME. That is what I have to say about that play. I had never been to a play like that before. And what an experience it was! THANK YOU STACEY for getting this whole thing set up and THANK YOU GREG for getting us such GREAT seats. We were in the 3rd row back and just shy of being in the center.

We drove down Friday night and went to dinner with Mike and Misti. Then we sat in the hot tub for awhile and went to bed early. Saturday we drove to downtown Portland and walked around until the show started.

I had read the book, so I was a little skeptical about the play. I could NOT see how they could take THAT book and turn it into a funny family friendly play. In fact, last summer, when Stacey told me her parents had seen the play "Wicked" and LOVED it-I was in shock. I had thought that if they had ever made that into a movie it would be rated R. But with much assurance that the play is NOT like the book in that sense, I decided it would be fun to see.

It was worth it. I can't wait to see it again!

(Sorry about being gone on your first birthday Johnny!!!)

Earrings

Yes. It is true. Kylie won.

Kylie has been wanting to get her ears pierced for about as long as she has been able to talk. She ALWAYS asks me "When can I wear the poky earrings?" I never had a problem with it.

It was all David. He always told me that if we let Kylie get hers done, then we would have to let Kaden if he wanted to. (Are you kidding me!?!?)

But on Tuesday, March 10 we went to Walla Walla for our hair cuts, as always. But this time Kylie noticed that Aunt Misti had a section in her Salon for ear piercing, and that she had a whole bunch of pretty little poky earrings. She asked me what Aunt Misti did with them. So I told her. Then she asked if she could get hers done. I told her to take it up with her dad.

She found a pair she liked and then walked around the salon holding on to them. David noticed. He asked what she had, she showed him, and when he told her to put them back-she BURST into tears. He looked at me surprised and I told him to go talk to her about it. So he went over to where Kylie was crying and hanging them back up. He sat on the floor. She sat on his lap and put her arm around him and then snuggled up, cheek to cheek. And I KNEW he was done for. She had him.

She was AWESOME about it. She didn't even cry! She got close, but she held strong.

In the car on the way to Uncle Mikes, Kylie said to David: "Dad, since you let me do that, when I really wanted to, then I will do what you tell me to do. I was going to tell you that before, but I thought you would laugh."

Well, it lasted for a little while any way!
